Daniel Turko/2-8-06/3-3.....Principles of Ethics and You

I. I actually did find out how Michael and Kevin were able to get the interviews for their documentary. They used the technique of phantom question. They actually asked the people about The Rising Tides, they asked what they thought about Hurricane Katrina.

II. Today during class we started out with last night's homework. Mr. Couillard went around and checked the worksheets. We then whiteboarded and answered all the questions to that homework, Principles of Ethics and You. The topics covered in this worksheet were the greatest good, equal respect and the golden rule, and relationships. We ended up going into deep analysis of each topic. One of the topics we talked about for a while was, "what is good?" It was debated on whether good is doing something that has a positive outcome or if its doing something you would like done for you.....etc. After the discussion ended, we were able to watch the end of Michael and Kevin's movie. I thought that the movie was very funny and interesting. It was an excellent movie and the only flaw in it was that on some interviews, they prolonged it, and it got kind of boring. Overall, it was a great class.

III. Today I learned an interesting fact concerning the problem over the Danish catoonist's portrayal of Mohammad. I found out that in retaliation an Iranian newspaper is going to print cartoons about the Holocaust. But that is strange, since Irans leader believes that the Holocaust never happened.

IV. I would like to know what the Danish Goverment's stance is concerning the cartoon and rioting.

V. I had a distinct opinion when we talked about what is "good" in class. I believe that good is something that has positive outcomes for any person. Whether you be helping 1 person or 1 billion people, an action that follows with positive outcome is definitely "good."
