Daniel Turko/2-16-06/3-6.....Documentaries
I. I researched on the internet, and I did not find a specific source that said there is an actual job for the study of communities. But if you think about it, the people who study different types of cultures around the world are in a way studying different communities.
II. Today in Ethics, we had a pretty fun class. Many people in the class were helping out with the wrestling tournament, so it would have been a waste to discuss new information. So instead, we ended watching more of the classes' documentaries. First, we watched the documentary about the meaning of life. To me, it did not really seem like a documentary because it was not portraying a clear message. It was just more so of an informational video on existentialism and transcedentalists. The next documentary that we watched was the one on pressure of getting into college, or making the grades. Bfeore we watched it, Britney and Jaclyn said it was bad, but I disagreed. The movie had a clear, distinct message and it was interesting. Then, we watched the documentary on high school love/relationships. This documentary was very good, but a little long. The group was able to use the techniques of deceptive filmmaking in order to get their point across. Finally, we started watching a documentary on stereotypes. This documentary was hillarious. Especially, when it showed Dunny being interviewed. I think they definitely proved that stereotypes are bad.
III. Today, I learned that there is actually a list of rules for fathers concerning the dating of their daughters. :)
IV. I am wondering of the list of rules for dating teenage daughters is an actual authentic set of rules, if it is the same all places you look.
V. I definitely had a distinct opinion when it came to the message in the stereotype documentary. I agree that stereotypes are bad. The reason that stereotypes are so bad is because they create disunity among people, and allow certain kids to be singled out.
